Obama blames McCain for being Black Jesus?
Politics: Can he be in such a bubble that he thinks blaming McCain for being seen as the chosen one would fly any sort of credibility test?
I have been pointing out the Black Jesus meme since earlier this year when even liberals were getting spooked by all the chosen one talk.
| Inspiration vs. SubstanceBy Joe Klein February 7, 2008. And yet there was something just a wee bit creepy about the mass messianism — “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for” — of the Super Tuesday speech and the recent turn of the Obama campaign. “This time can be different because this campaign for the presidency of the United States of America is different. It’s different not because of me. It’s different because of you.” That is not just maddeningly vague but also disingenuous: the campaign is entirely about Obama and his ability to inspire. Rather than focusing on any specific issue or cause — other than an amorphous desire for change — the message is becoming dangerously self-referential. The Obama campaign all too often is about how wonderful the Obama campaign is. |
Obama must realizes that all this talk is finally biting him in the ass but trying to blame McCain when he has played the race card on top of the Black Jesus talk is too ridiculous even for him.
