| 10:08AM "SO all of us use laptops and smartphones... the question has arisen; is there room for something in the middle. We've wondered for years as well -- in order to create that category, they have to be far better at doing some key tasks... better than the laptop, better than the smartphone." |

Here is my problem, other than e-books which the iPad should excel in given the form factor, what is the incentive to get it?
If the iPad is supposed to be the device in the middle, it should do all the things the ipod touch/ iphone can do much better plus somethings the Macbook can do. It doesn't have a camera, it can't multitask(read an e-book, listen to music), no flash, small ridiculous storage space, no usb, no way to add more memory.
If its truly more practical and better than a lowly netbook why can't it do or have many of the options that are standard on a netbook?
If you are going to brag that its better than a netbook and occupies the middle of the line up pass the iphone/itouch, it not only should have all the options but be better at them.
I know its going to be a hit with the Apple fangeeks but I am going to wait till at least V3.
I'm not getting one right off simply because I don't feel that gap, but I can see the attraction based on what I've read from people who have had it hands on. This this is fast. Ridiculously fast, compared to a netbook. I've used netbooks, and they are ponderously slow. Everything I've read says that the iPad renders html pages significantly faster than an iPhone 3GS, and I have a 3GS and don't feel like it is slow -- but people who used an iPad say it feels slow after they compare them.
