Lord help us... Miami Beach prepares for 2012 Urban Beach Weekend

Or as we natives in South Florida call it, "GTFO of town" weekend. After the last couple of years with shootings, deaths and an embarrassment of behavior to the black image, there was talk of shutting this freaknik wannabe event down and run it out of town. But they are going to try again to make sure the number of arrests and shootings stay under a collective 100.

Miami Beach city leaders have laid out a tentative place to deal with massive crowds during the Memorial Day weekend next month.

The list of proposals was presented to city commissioners by City Manager Jorge Gonzalez.

It includes closing off side-streets to visitors along Washington Avenue, Collins Avenue, Fifth Street and Alton Road. Officials want to keep traffic flowing in the heart of South Beach.

Miami Beach Police will also have the option of closing the eastbound lanes of the MacArthur Causeway if traffic gets out of control.

The department is also spending $1.5 million in overtime for off-duty officers.

City leaders are hoping to avoid a repeat of last year's Urban Beach Weekend when police shot and killed one man and wounded four others.

Honestly just get rid of this nonsense and send it off to another state. Just like Freaknik damaged Atlanta for years, this is going to do a lot more harm till the officials who are afraid to be called racists shut this garbage down.

  1. I'm anticipating a racist murder of someone (or someones) for being white. And I blame the race hustlers. Sharpton already has the Freddie's fashion mart blood on his hands.
